There was no internet, no video games, no personal computers, thus leaving typewriters and the newly introduced Xerox copy machine, to serve as weapons of mass mischief in higher education.  It was a revolutionary innovation in Canadian education, attracting a fresh cadre of dedicated educators and an equal number of classic administrators, floating like a cluster of colorful balloons, just waiting for some wag with a hatpin.
